This course provides a comprehensive exploration of how computer networks function, how data moves across them, and the strategies used to defend against threats that target their integrity, availability, and confidentiality. Students will begin by mastering the fundamentals of networking, including network models, protocols, addressing, routing, and switching. From there, the course transitions into applied security concepts such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, encryption, VPNs, and wireless security. Special attention is given to emerging technologies and challenges in areas like cloud networking, zero-trust architectures, and defending against advanced cyber threats. By combining theory with hands-on labs, learners will gain the ability to design, configure, and secure networks in real-world environments. Case studies from industry breaches are used to illustrate vulnerabilities and demonstrate best practices for risk mitigation.
